Dan Toombs

Dan is the Director of the Queensland Criminal Justice Centre and Chief Executive Officer of one of Australia's most dynamic and innovative not for profit organisations, The Advocacy & Support Centre Inc (TASC). He was admitted as a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1999. He has instigated a number of ground-breaking innovations both in social and legal reform culminating in a number of prestigious awards including: -

Sue Gordon

tasc_039Sue is the QCJC's Project Co-ordinator, and TASC's Senior Disability Advocate, where she has worked for six years. She has worked with clients of the multi-award winning Disability Law Project. Sue has been a ministerial appointee of the Ipswich and Toowoomba Regional Disability Councils for the past seven years and Chaired the Ipswich Regional Disability Council between 2001 - 2005. Her experience includes working across all government departments, the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal, the Mental Health Review Tribunal, the Adult Guardian, the Public Trustee, and with several non-government organisations. She is also developing a training manual for professionals working in government and non-government sectors.

Andrew Caple

tasc_009Andrew is a Doctoral candidate at the Queensland University of Technology and Queensland Criminal Justice Centre Principal Researcher.  Prior to QCJC Andrew worked as an Assistant in Nursing and a Personal Carer for ten years. He studied law at Griffith University graduating as a University Medallist and after spending time as a Judge's Associate in the District Court he won an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship to analyse the principle of open justice in Queensland's Mental Health Review Tribunal and Mental Health Court. He has taught several undergraduate law courses and is currently developing a Masters unit in Mental Health Law to commence in July 2009.
